Homelab Rclone Backup · Last updated: October 8, 2026

Homelab Rclone Backup is a private, owner-operated personal homelab backup integration. It is not offered as a public service.

Google data accessed

The application uses Google OAuth and the Google Drive API with the drive.file permission. This allows the application to create, read, list, update, download, and remove Google Drive files to which the application has access. It does not request unrestricted access to all existing Drive files.

Purpose and use of data

Google Drive access is used solely to upload owner-selected backup archives, confirm backups can be retrieved, and restore or manage those backup files when directed by the owner. The application does not use Google user data for advertisements, profiling, sale, or training AI models.

Encryption and storage

Backup content and filenames are encrypted with rclone crypt on the owner's equipment before they are sent to Google Drive. Google Drive stores these encrypted backup files in the owner's account. OAuth credentials and encryption settings are kept in an access-restricted local rclone configuration on the owner's equipment; the encryption passwords needed for recovery are separately retained by the owner.

Sharing

The application does not sell Google user data or intentionally share it with third parties. Google provides the cloud storage and processes data under Google's own terms and privacy policies. The owner controls access to their Google Drive backup files.

Retention and deletion

Encrypted backups are retained in the owner's Google Drive account until the owner chooses to remove them. Locally stored authorization credentials are retained while the backup connection is in use and may be removed by the owner. The owner can revoke the application's Google access through their Google Account security settings.

Website visitors

This informational website contains no login, tracking scripts, analytics, or contact forms operated by the application. The website hosting provider, Cloudflare, may process technical request information according to its own policies.
